Yes, Janus is the name on my birth certificate. 

My Mother felt that I needed all the luck I could get in this life, and she told me that the "U" looked to her like a lucky horseshoe. She said It would "catch all the good luck the universe had to give me!" ( Mom was a Saggittarius, bless her soul!)                                          

 What that spelling did do was introduce me to the world of mythology.

 When I entered first grade (after the teacher sent me home with a note saying I did not know how to spell my name correctly and the returning note from my mother saying yes, it was spelled 'US', not 'IS' or 'ICE') My first homework was to look up my name in the dictionary:

 "JANUS" In Roman mythology, the god of portals and of beginnings and endings, usually depicted as having two faces one looking to the past and one to the future"

In second grade, the assignment was to look up my name in the enclyopedia. By third grade I had a knowledge of both Roman and Greek mythology, and had taken to heart as much of the teaching the myths held as my understanding of life permitted. As an astrologer, I use my knowledge of mythology all the time. I see the planets as personalities, and the zodiac signs as lenses for their energies.

You might say I had an unusual upbringing. My mother understood the language of animals. We always had a house filled with creatures. At one time I remember we had 4 dogs, hamsters, snakes, a parakeet and a canary, wild baby squirrels that someone brought for my mom to heal, two baby rabbits also from the wild, and a wall tropical fish tanks. Every body got along because they all loved and respected mom. My mother heard spirits speaking to her all the time. She could tune into us kids and know if we were ok because "Uncle George told her".

 Both of my parents were very spiritually aware of the life in all things, and taught my brothers and me to respect the earth. They took us camping to upstate New York and explained all about the creatures and fauna we brought them from our explorations in the woods. I still love the green world and comunicating with the earth spirits.

 My mother's mother was from Newfoundland, Canada and was part Iroquois Indian. She knew all about herbs and flowers and told me once on the sly that she knew what remedy to use because the herbs "spoke to her". My mother's father was Irish and could tell what was wrong with an engine by listening to it. He was also a member of the Rosecrucians  and his mother was 'gifted with the sight'.

My Dad was a dowser. He could find water under the ground using a twig from a tree. When he worked for the natural gas company, He located buried gaslines using copper tubes to dowse for them. His mother was a naturalist, a member of the Audubon Society, and an avid fisherman. Grandad used to say she 'charmed the fishes' and always caught the biggest one.

I feel fortunate to have inherited my talents for sensing the subtle worlds. I worked for years to refine and enhance my abilities and I am still improving and growing into myself.

Hi! Just a note to let you know that your guidance in our session a couple of weeks ago has already changed my life. Until then I had no ambition and, all of a sudden, I am helping someone learn to type! That may turn into a fun childrens book! I am surprised as anyone! Where I had no direction before, I am enthuastically looking forward to classes starting in January! It is all pretty amazing. No wonder everyone wants to be your friend!
